About this collection
In an age of hyper-visibility, where every face is mirrored across countless screens and every gesture echoes into the digital void, Imago Altera stands as an intimate and unsettling meditation on fractured identity.
RedRum leads us through a topography of disorientation, where the face, once the mirror of the soul, splinters into countless shards of the self.
These portraits do not seek to reveal a singular truth, but rather to explore the tension between presence and simulacrum, between what is shown and what remains buried beneath the surface.
Each work is a threshold, a liminal space crossed by gazes that do not ask to be recognized, but rather to become lost.
Imago Altera, the other image, is not a faithful double, but a restless shadow, a counter-figure that disturbs, refracts, complicates. The doppelgänger here is not a replica, but an embodied question: who are we, really, when we see ourselves through the multiplied lens of another’s gaze?
RedRum’s figures inhabit a haunting in-between: no longer themselves, not yet something else. Faces unravel, symmetry collapses, identities grow fluid, translucent, at times unsettling. Like apparitions suspended in an eternal moment of transformation, these presences seem to surface from the depths of consciousness only to retreat into silence.
There is no resolution in these images, only the perpetual becoming of a self that seeks, escapes, reflects, and finally dissolves.
To look at Imago Altera is to stand before a fractured mirror: what you see is never just your own face, but also your missed possibilities, your invisible wounds, your masks and your shadows.
RedRum invites us into a radical confrontation with the very idea of identity: not as a fixed point, but as a territory to be traversed.
In these works, revelation does not come through clarity, but through disorientation.
And it is precisely there, in that fissure between what we are and what we fear we might be, that space opens for a new reading of the self, more ambiguous, more unstable, and perhaps, more true.
